A prior warning
Before asking your question, you must bear in mind that this service is handled by libraries from all over Spain, which are rotated daily. Therefore, if your doubt refers to a particular and specific aspect of the library that you usually frequent (its schedule, reservations or other aspects), do not ask the question here, because we will not know the answer. Ask your usual library directly.
E-mail service
If an e-mail address fails, the chain will break. Carefully enter your e-mail address, and be sure that it is an address that can receive e-mails from the Internet and not just from your local network. In any event, if your e-mail address does not work correctly, we have provided a lost responses web page, which is accessible from the main page. There, for a period of time, you can consult the questions and responses that did not reach their recipients.
Specific questions
We can only provide you with specific responses to specific questions. We cannot respond to general questions or about the great subjects of humanity. We do not study a subject, and we do not outline a hypothesis or give opinions.
Give us a starting point...
If you give us contextual information when asking a question, we will certainly find what you are looking for. Bear in mind that we cannot initiate a conversation to clarify the nuances of the question and that we will only receive your e-mail. Briefly explain to us the reason why you want the information, where you have heard about the subject and what your doubt is. The librarians who handle your question will be grateful if you can give us any clues that point us in the right direction for our search.
Questions from abroad
Remember that we are in Spain and that if you ask us specific questions about other cultures and countries, it may be that we do not readily have the information sources available. Remember that there are similar services as Ask a librarian o KidsConnect in the United States or there is the Allexperts or Live information from the New York Public Library.
Medical or legal information
If you would like us to find a legal provision or information about a disease, no problem. But if what you are seeking is a detailed legal report or an opinion about your health based on certain symptoms, for example, we cannot help you. The best thing to do is to request professional advice from a lawyer or a doctor.
Trivial and contests
This service is not a Trivial pursuit contest between librarians. Please send us the consultations in which you are interested, and a little at a time. Do not send twenty questions all at once. Remember that finding some answers can be tedious work.
Research work and complete bibliographic searches
Do not expect us to prepare the bibliography for your thesis or to prepare the subject matter of a civil service examination for you. We can help you by indicating some bibliographies on the subject.
Look for the direct source
If you want to know what documentation is required to submit a study scholarship at the Ministry of Culture, or when the deadline is for filing your income tax statement, the best thing to do is to contact them directly. Many specific doubts can be resolved for you directly by the entities in charge of the particular subject.
The great pleasure of doing it on your own
Little by little, you will discover that there are a multitude of questions that you can answer yourself, more quickly and more accurately. You can find a considerable amount of information on the Internet. Here are some basic resources to start:
